25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Boyz II Men “Motownphilly”

In a chart career that lasted from 1991 to 2000, Philadelphia-based group Boyz II Men made eighteen appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with fifteen of those songs reaching the Top 40, eleven making the Top 10, and five hitting number one. That run made them one of the most successful pop music acts of the 1990s, and it started with their debut single, “Motownphilly,” which exactly 25 years ago climbed to a peak position of number 3.
