25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Digital Underground “The Humpty Dance”
Oakland, California-based group Digital Underground reached the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twice, with a couple of singles in the early 1990s. Their second Top 40 hit, “Kiss You Back,” peaked at number 40 in 1992. Their first Top 40 hit, though, was their biggest hit and the song for which they are most famous. Exactly 25 years ago, that song — “The Humpty Dance” — reached a peak position of number 11, where it would spend one week.
