25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Elton John “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”

While the remake of The Lion King is currently in theaters, 25 years ago the original film was on its way to becoming the second-highest grossing film in the United States for 1994. While Hans Zimmer provided the score for the film, Elton John co-wrote the film’s songs with lyricist Tim Rice. John took two of those songs to the Top 20 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, starting with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” which exactly 25 years ago fell from its peak position of number 4.
