25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Eric Clapton “Tears in Heaven”
In March 1991, legendary guitarist Eric Clapton‘s four-year-old son Conor died when he fell from the 53rd floor of a building in New York City. As part of his response, Clapton penned the song “Tears in Heaven,” which was also written for the 1991 film Rush. Exactly 25 years ago, “Tears in Heaven” became the second-biggest hit of Clapton’s career when it climbed to a peak position of number 2.
