25 Years Ago in the Nineties: George Michael “Freedom”

British singer George Michael‘s second single from his Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 album didn’t do as well as his first single. The first single, “Praying For Time” topped Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, while the second single, “Freedom,” peaked at number 8. Still, “Freedom” may be the most memorable single from the album, in large part because of the video, which featured a number of supermodels and depicted the destruction of the jukebox, guitar, and leather jacket that had been featured in the video for Michael’s hugely successful hit “Faith” three years earlier. Exactly 25 years ago, George Michael’s “Freedom” climbed to its peak position, where it would spend two weeks.
