25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Gloria Estefan “Coming Out Of The Dark”

In March 1990, Havana-born singer Gloria Estefan was seriously injured when a semi truck hit her tour bus. The following January, Estefan released the album Into The Light, the subject matter for which came from her recovery from the accident. Exactly 25 years ago, the first single from that album, “Coming Out of the Dark,” which exemplified the tone of the album, climbed to number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for a two week reign.
