25 Years Ago In The Nineties: Janet Jackson “Rhythm Nation”
In the fall of 1989, Janet Jackson released her album Rhythm Nation 1814, from which she would release seven singles, all of which hit the Top 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. After the first single, “Miss You Much,” spent four weeks at number 1 in October 1989, the second single — the album’s title track, “Rhythm Nation” — just missed topping the chart, as 25 years ago it was in the middle of a two-week run at number 2.
