Oakland-born rapper M.C. Hammer’s 1990 album Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em spent 21 weeks on top of Billboard‘s Top 200 album chart and spawned three Top 10 hits. The first of those hits — and the song for which Hammer is most remembered — was “U Can’t Touch This.” Exactly 25 years ago, “U Can’t Touch This” rose to a peak position of number 8, where it would spend one week.
