Throughout her career, Madonna has been no stranger to controversy, to the extent that it’s difficult to determine what have been her most controversial moments. One of those moments occurred in the fall of 1990, with the release of her song “Justify My Love” and its corresponding video, which was the cause of the controversy when MTV banned it for its explicit sexuality. Amid the controversy, the song climbed to number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for the first two weeks of 1991.
