25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Madonna “Vogue”
After garnering seven number one hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in the 1980s, Madonna reached number one for the first time in the 1990s in the very first year of the decade. She achieved the feat with “Vogue,” the first single from her I’m Breathless album, which included music from and inspired by the film Dick Tracy, in which Madonna costarred alongside Warren Beatty. Exactly 25 years ago, “Vogue” was in the midst of a three-week run at number one.
