25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Mariah Carey “Vision Of Love”

Over the past two and a half decades, New York-born singer Mariah Carey has built one of the most successful careers in pop music history. She has amassed 33 Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with 18 of those 33 hits reaching number one. Her list of number one singles includes her first five singles and eight of her first ten singles to reach the chart. The list also includes the single with the longest run at number one in chart history, her duet “One Sweet Day” with Boyz II Men.

All of this got started with “Vision Of Love,” her very first number one single, which spent four weeks at the top of the chart. Exactly 25 years ago, “Vision Of Love” was in the final week of its four-week reign at number one.
