25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Maxi Priest “Close To You”
London-born singer Maxi Priest has hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart five times, ranging from “Wild World” in 1988/1989 through “That Girl” with Shaggy in 1996. Among those singles, Priest’s biggest hit came with “Close To You,” the first single from his Bonafide album. Exactly 25 years ago, “Close To You” climbed to number one for a one-week run at the top.
