25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Rolling Stones “Rock And A Hard Place”

The beginning of 2015 today means that the start of the 1990s was officially 25 years ago. To commemorate that anniversary, Tunesmate is starting a new feature called “25 Years Ago in the Nineties” that will look at what was happening in popular music exactly 25 years ago. For the first “25 Years Ago in the Nineties” feature, we recognize one of the biggest acts in rock and roll history, the Rolling Stones.

The Rolling Stones have amassed 41 Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in their career to date. As the 1990s were commencing, the final of the Rolling Stones’ Top 40 hits — “Rock And A Hard Place” — was in the Top 40. Exactly 25 years ago, “Rock And A Hard Place” was in the midst of a three-week run at a peak position of number 23.
