25 Years Ago in the Nineties: The B-52’s “Roam”
Athens, Georgia-based band The B-52’s enjoyed their greatest popular music success with their 1989 album Cosmic Thing. The album produced three of the band’s five Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, including the band’s only two Top 10 hits. In November 1989, “Love Shack” reached number 3. Then, a few months later — exactly 25 years ago today — the band’s very next single,”Roam,” equaled the feat by climbing to its peak position of number 3, where it would spend two weeks.
