Jackson, Mississippi-born musician Fred Knoblock has appeared on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twice, with both singles reaching the Top 40. First, his single “Why Not Me” reached number 18 in 1980. Then, his duet with Susan Anton on the song “Killin’ Time” climbed to number 28 in early 1981. Exactly 35 years ago, “Why Not Me” rose to its peak position for a two week stay.
