DEF: Dionne & Friends “That’s What Friends Are For”

New Jersey-born singer Dionne Warwick has hit number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twice. The first time, “Then Came You” by Dionne Warwicke and the Spinners spent one week at the top of the chart in October 1974. Eleven years and three months later, Warwick rose to the top again, this time for four weeks, accompanied by Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Stevie Wonder as “Dionne & Friends,” with “That’s What Friends Are For.” Exactly 30 years ago, “That’s What Friends Are For” ascended to number one. Today, Dionne Warwick’s biggest hit is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
