It Happened 50 Years Ago: Stevie Wonder “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)”
In 1963, Saginaw, Michigan-born musician Stevie Wonder hit number one Billboard‘s Hot 100 with his first charting single, “Fingertips – Pt 2.” It would be nearly three more years before Wonder reached the Top 10 again, though after that, the floodgates opened, and he would go on to amass a total of 27 Top 10 singles. Exactly 50 years ago, Stevie Wonder’s second Top 10 hit, “Uptight (Everything’s Alright),” climbed to a peak position of number 3, where it would spend two weeks.
