25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Paula Abdul “Rush Rush”
In December 1984 and January 1985, Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” spent six weeks at number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. It would be six and a half more years before another song spent more than four weeks at the top. That streak came to end with Paula Abdul‘s “Rush Rush,” the first release from her 1991 album, Spellbound. Exactly 25 years ago, “Rush Rush” rose to number one on the Hot 100 chart, beginning its five-week stay at the top.
