It Happened 50 Years Ago: Tommy James and the Shondells “Hanky Panky”
Michigan-based group Tommy James and the Shondells hit the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart seven times, all between 1966 and 1969. Two of those songs reached number one, including the group’s first charting hit, “Hanky Panky,” which exactly 50 years ago climbed to the top of the chart for a two-week run.
