Between 1964 and 1969, the Supremes hit number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twelve times, making them one of the most successful pop music acts of the 1960s. Two of those chart-topping hits came in 1966, and exactly 50 years ago, the first of those two songs — “You Can’t Hurry Love” — rose to number one for a two-week reign.
