DEF: Charlene “I’ve Never Been to Me”
In 1977, Hollywood, California-born singer Charlene made three appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with all three songs peaking in the low 90s. Her first charting single, “It Ain’t Easy Comin’ Down,” hit number 97. A couple months later, “Freddie” reached number 96, and a few months after that “I’ve Never Been to Me” peaked at number 97. Five years later, “I’ve Never Been to Me” was rereleased, and this time it became Charlene’s only Top 40 hit.
