Best Samples: Magic Carpet Ride
After Run-DMC’s 1986 mashup with Aerosmith on “Walk This Way”, rap artists started exploring sampling rock tracks. In 1988, Grandmaster Flash and the newly reunited Furious Five decided to blank over Steppenwolf’s classic ’60s anthem “Magic Carpet Ride”. You may also notice the sample of Billy Squier’s larger than life “Big Beat”.
