Pennsylvania-born singer Matthew Shuler gained national attention by appearing on Season 5 of the television show The Voice in 2013. The version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” that Shuler sang on the show was released as a single, and exactly five years ago, it debuted on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart at a peak position of number 40.
