Dick Dale 1937-2019

Dick Dale, the guitarist known for originating the “surf” guitar sound, died Saturday at the age of 81. Dale’s most prolific period came between 1962 and 1965, when he released six albums. He then enjoyed a renaissance three decades later, when he released three albums between 1993 and 1996 and his tune “Misirlou” was featured prominently in the film Pulp Fiction. Hearing “Misirlou” in Pulp Fiction is my most vivid memory associated with a Dick Dale tune. What’s yours?
