Monthly Mixtape: June

The Times They Are a-Changin’

Originally the playlist for this month was supposed to be about the moon. It was to correspond with the full moon tonight, but a lot has changed since I originally put together that list. There is a deep hurt in this country, one that will not go away by simply ignoring it. Music has long provided a medium for people to air out their grievances. The protest song is an art, one that few artists manage to capture as well as the following. The songs are from all genres and from around the world. The spirit of change is present where ever injustice lives. The j-card for this month is simple, as the picture ought to speak for itself. It is of a protestor in Minneapolis flying the flag upside down to indicate that we are in crisis. But with every crisis, there is hope, and in the words of Pete Seeger, we shall overcome.
