Saving All My Love For You
One of pop music’s most remarkable streaks started exactly 25 years ago today. That’s when Whitney Houston hit the top of Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for the very first time with “Saving All My Love For You” from her self-titled debut album. While this was the first of her 11 chart-topping singles, it also began what would, by the summer of 1988, become a record-breaking string. Whitney’s next six singles would all also top the charts as well, giving her a total of seven consecutive no. 1 singles. The next time a Whitney Houston song did not go to No. 1 was the July-1988 release “Love Will Save the Day,” which peaked at No. 9.
