Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire made two appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart as a solo artist. Exactly 35 years ago, the first of that pair of songs and the biggest hit of the two, a remake of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” rose to a peak position of number 50.
