Exactly 40 years ago today, the television show Cagney & Lacey debuted on CBS, beginning a seven-season run. Though for much of its run, the show’s intro music was a piece by Bill Conti, the first season’s opening featured the song “Ain’t That the Way” performed by Marie Cain.
