Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue — August 2023

A blue moon will be occurring later this month. To commemorate that, the August 2023 edition of “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue” features celestial objects. First, “Something Old” is “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” which was popularized after its 1933 publication by many artists, including Nat King Cole. Second, for “Something New,” we have one of Harry Style’s latest hits, “Satellite.” Next, for “Something Borrowed,” Peter Schilling used the character Major Tom from David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” for his 1980s hit “Major Tom (Coming Home).” Finally, for “Something Blue,” it is, of course, the song “Blue Moon” itself, which was most famously performed by The Marcels.
