Jessie’s Girl

Between 1972’s “Speak To The Sky” and 1988’s “Rock Of Life,” Australian singer/songwriter Rick Springfield scored 17 top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with 15 of them coming between 1981 and 1985.  Five of those hits cracked the top 10, and the biggest of them all, “Jessie’s Girl,” hit number 1 for a two-week stay exactly 30 years ago today.

Of course, Springfield, who will turn 62 later this month, also became known for his acting career, most memorably as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital.
