Shakedown

You likely know Michigan native Bob Seger from any number of his top 20 hits, like “Night Moves,” “Against The Wind,” “Shame On The Moon,” “Like A Rock,” or any of a number of others.  After all, between 1969 and 1987, he scored a total of 15 top 20 hits, some with and some without the Silver Bullet Band credited.  You may also remember him from Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear to “Old Time Rock & Roll” in Risky Business, though that song peaked at number 28.

Among all of these songs, it was Seger’s last top 20 hit that turned out to be his biggest.  Exactly 25 years ago today, Seger hit number one for the only time in his career when “Shakedown” from the film Beverly Hills Cop II reached the top spot for its one-week stay.

67-year-old Seger is still touring, and as his official website reports, a second leg of his most recent tour is planned for this coming fall.
