Laura Branigan
Exactly 30 years ago, New York-born singer Laura Branigan hit a peak position of number 2 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with the biggest hit of her career, “Gloria.” The song would spend three weeks at the runner-up spot and would begin a streak of five straight Top 20 hits for Branigan. That streak included the songs “Solitaire,” “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” “Self Control,” and “The Lucky One.” The string of hits marked the most successful period of Branigan’s career, and she would never again reach the Top 20.
Unfortunately, Branigan passed away at the age of 47 in August of 2004, but if you’d like to learn more about her, check out her official website.
