Bryan Adams/Rod Stewart/Sting

A couple of days ago, Tunesmate asked for sentunes featuring songs by Rod Stewart.  Today, we mark two decades since Stewart’s most recent number one single on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, as exactly 20 years ago, the trio of Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart, and Sting hit number one with “All For Love.”  The song, which Adams co-wrote with Mutt Lange and Michael Kamen for the 1993 film The Three Musketeers, would spend a total of three weeks at the top of the chart.

For Stewart, “All For Love” marked the fourth number one single of his career.  For Adams, “All For One” raised his total of number one hits to three, to which he added a fourth in 1995 with “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?”  Meanwhile, “All For One” has been the only number one hit of Sting‘s solo career, though of course, he also had one of the biggest number one hits of the 1980s with “Every Breath You Take” as a member of the Police.
