Love Unlimited Orchestra

In September 1974, Barry White hit number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for the first and only time of his career as “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe” spent one week at the top of the chart.  “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe” wasn’t White first time at number 1, though.  Seven months earlier, Love Unlimited Orchestra, the orchestra that White put together as a backing band for vocal group Love Unlimited and for which he arranged and conducted music, hit number 1 as well.  Exactly 40 years ago, that number one single, “Love’s Theme,” enjoyed its one week at the top of the Hot 100.

Love Unlimited Orchestra would not witness Top 10 success again with subsequent singles, though they did hit number 22 in 1975 with “Satin Soul,” the act’s only other Top 40 single.
