Sunshine On My Shoulders
Roswell, New Mexico-born singer/songwriter John Denver hit number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart four times between 1974 and 1975. Exactly 40 years ago, the first of these number 1 hits, “Sunshine On My Shoulders,” reached the top spot for its one-week stay.
In addition to his four number 1 hits, Denver also hit the Top 10 with four additional singles between 1971 and 1975. Denver passed away at the age of 53 when the airplane he was piloting, in which he was the only passenger, crashed into the Pacific Ocean just off the coast of California.
