Title Title on the Tenth: One More Try
Voting has ended for last month’s Title Title on the Tenth, and Wilson Phillips wins the title for the best song titled “Hold On,” beating out Colbie Caillat and En Vogue.
This week, we’re going to give the Title Title one more try with a couple of number 1 hits named exactly that.
In May and June of 1988, George Michael spent three weeks at number 1 with his single titled “One More Try.” Nearly three years later, in March 1991, Timmy T spent one week at number 1 with his single of the same name. For George Michael, “One More Try” was his third straight number 1 hit in what would be a string of four consecutive chart-toppers. For Timmy T, “One More Try” was only his second (and final) Top 40 hit, and the first — “Time After Time” – peaked at exactly number 40.
