Rehit Wonder – Melt With You
I would like to introduce to you a new term called “Rehit Wonder.” A Rehit Wonder is a song that does not chart well even when released multiple times but then still goes on to heavy radio play. The song “Melt With You” by Modern English was released two separate times but still never cracked the Billboard top 40. The song by the British duo charted at #78 in 1983 and then #76 in 1990.
A few years ago I did a post about songs that didn’t chart well and it started me thinking about how often this occurs. After doing some brief chart research, I realized that songs that don’t chart well initially and later on go into heavy radio rotation occur quite frequently. But how often do you try to be released again with the same fizzle?
