Title Title on the Tenth: “Shout”
In this past month’s Title Title on the Tenth, New Kids on the Block defeated four other acts to win the “Step By Step” Title Title. This month, Title Title on the Tenth goes back exactly 30 years ago, when Tears For Fears occupied the number one spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with “Shout.”
“Shout” by Tears For Fears is one of two songs with that title to reach the Hot 100. The other song has appeared on the Hot 100 six times, by four different artists, though it’s original version was performed by the Isley Brothers, who took it to number 47 in 1959. That version gets pitted this month against Tears For Fears’ “Shout” for the Title Title.
