DEF: Deniece Williams “Silly”
After building a successful career that included the number one hit “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late” in the 1970s, Gary, Indiana-born singer Deniece Williams hit the Top 10 twice in the 1980s. “It’s Gonna Take a Miracle” reached number 10 in 1982 and her biggest hit, “Let’s Hear It For The Boy,” spent two weeks at number one in 1984. Her first single to appear on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in the 1980s, though, was the song “Silly,” and on this date in 1981, “Silly” hit its peak position of number 53, where it would spend two weeks.
