Though the single “Bad Boys” appeared on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in 1983, British duo Wham! broke through to their major pop music success with “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” in 1984. The single rose to number one, where it would spend three weeks, and it was the first of three straight chart-topping and seven straight Top 10 hits for the collaboration between George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.
Exactly 30 years ago, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” reached the number one slot on the Hot 100. To mark that anniversary, the song is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
