In the last two weeks of the 1970s, British musician Rupert Holmes scored the biggest hit of his career when “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” topped Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. After falling out of the number one slot for the first week of the 1980s, the song rebounded to the top for a third week.
