DEF: ZZ Top “Stages”
Houston, Texas-based band ZZ Top have scored eight Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart during their career, ranging from “Tush” in 1975 through “Velcro Fry” in 1986. Their most successful singles are “Legs” and “Sleeping Bag,” both of which peaked at number 8 and gave the band two straight Top 10 hits — the only two Top 10 hits of their career. The single that followed those two Top 10 hits, “Stages,” became the band’s sixth Top 40 hit, and on this date in 1986, it reached a peak position of number 21, where it would spend one week.
