DEF: USA For Africa “We Are The World”

In 1985, artists from across the music industry came together to record the song “We Are The World” as a means of raising money for humanitarian aid in Africa. The single for the song would go on to sell over 20 million copies, making it one of the biggest-selling singles in pop music history. Exactly 30 years ago today, in just its fourth week on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, “We Are The World” completed its skyrocket to the top by climbing into the number one position for a four-week stay.
