The accomplishments of New Kids on the Block include placing 14 songs on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, of which 11 reached the Top 40, 9 — their first 9 charting songs, in fact — reached the Top 10, and three hit number one. Among all of those hits, the group’s biggest hit occurred when “Step By Step” spent three weeks at the top of the chart. Exactly 25 years ago, “Step By Step” rose to the number one position to begin that run.
