When I played this before one of my classes Wednesday, one of my students noted that a lot of songs seemed to involve the word “down”–like that was a big theme in pop music in 2009. We joked that maybe it was because of the recession. Everyone was feeling down. After the recent films Up and Up in the Air, maybe this year’s theme will be “up.”
