Birthday of the Week: Carole King
This was one of the most difficult weeks to choose a Birthday of the Week. Every single day had someone hitting a milestone that would justify their selection. Check out this list:
- Today, Axl Rose turns 60.
- Tomorrow, Garth Brooks turns 60.
- On Tuesday, composer John Williams turns 90.
- On Wednesday, Carole King turns 80.
- On Thursday, Roberta Flack turns 85.
- On Friday, Sheryl Crow turns 60.
- On Saturday, Michael McDonald turns 70.
On any given week without that competition, any of those artists could easily have been the choice. Looking at the field, though, the nod this week goes to Carole King.
To commemorate her milestone, let us know your favorite Carole King song. Continuing with the theme of tough choices, this was a hard one for me. I could readily make a case for “So Far Away,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” “It’s Too Late,” “Believe in Humanity,” and others. Still, knowing my selection is related to its use on Gilmore Girls, for me “Where You Lead” nudges slightly above the rest.
