Chuck Barris 1929-2017

You’ve like heard by now that Chuck Barris passed away Monday at the age of 87. Barris is most known as the creator and host of The Gong Show, though he is also remembered for having created a number of other television game shows, including The Newlywed Game and The Dating Game, both of which also used theme music Barris composed. Barris also wrote pop music, and his biggest songwriting success came in 1962 with “Palisades Park,” which Massachusetts-born singer Freddy Cannon took to number 3 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.
