After making eleven appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in the 1970s, including two Top 10 hits, Boston-based band Aerosmith went more than seven and a half years between without charting, from early 1980 until their late 1987 renaissance that would usher in their period of greatest success from the late 1980s through 2001. On yesterday’s date in 1980, the last song before the band’s chart gap, “Remember (Walking in the Sand),” rose to a peak position of number 67.
