Though she never made an appearance on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, Peoria, Illinois-born musician Cristy Lane hit the Hot Country Singles Chart twenty-one times, most successfully with her lone number one hit, “One Day at a Time,” which exactly 40 years ago climbed to the top of the chart.
