DEF: Frank & Moon Zappa “Valley Girl”
Baltimore-born musician Frank Zappa didn’t exactly make music geared toward pop radio, but he did appear on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart a few times during his career. Most successfully, Zappa reached the Top 40 for the first and only time when in 1982 he teamed up with his daughter, Moon Unit, on “Valley Girl.” On this date in 1982, Frank & Moon Zappa’s “Valley Girl” climbed to a peak position of number 32, where it would spend two weeks. Today, “Valley Girl” is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
